44 differently-abled children join Dubai Police Hemaya Schools

The Dubai Police Hemaya Schools for Education marked the start of the new 2023-2024 academic year with diverse events and engaging activities involving students from all grade levels.

Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Saeed Al Suwaidi, Director of Hemaya Schools for Education, congratulated administrative staff, faculty members, students, and parents on starting the new academic year. He affirmed that Hemaya Schools created an environment filled with joy, motivation, and exciting student events, in collaboration with the People of Determination Empowerment Council, the Positive Spirit Initiative, and internal partners.

Lt. Col. Al Suwaidi highlighted the enrolment of 44 students with determination, who are the children of Dubai Police employees, across different stages of Hemaya Schools. "This reflects Hemaya Schools' unwavering commitment to providing an inclusive educational environment in partnership with the People of Determination Empowerment Council to enhance the student's quality of life, aligning with Dubai Police's strategic objective of fostering happiness within the community," he continued.

Major Abdullah Hamad Al Shamsi, Chairman of the People of Determination Empowerment Council at Dubai Police, reaffirmed the council's unwavering commitment to supporting individuals of determination and empowering them to accomplish their aspirations. He highlighted the significance of addressing the needs and requirements of employees of determination and their families, recognising them as an essential segment deserving of attention, care, and assistance.

Maj. Al Shamsi further emphasised the council's dedication to celebrating and engaging with individuals of determination in various events and occasions, promoting their happiness, and enhancing their overall quality of life, in alignment with the national policy for empowering people of determination and Dubai's strategy of 'My Community… A City for Everyone'.

Future generations

Captain Mohammed Bin Shufia, from Hemaya Education Schools Office, stressed that strengthening the integration efforts for students of determination in Dubai Police Hemaya Schools is an investment in the future generations. He stated, "This investment involves providing them with all the necessary resources and opportunities that enable them to overcome different challenges and open broad avenues for them to access advanced educational solutions, empowering them to participate in society on an equal footing with others actively."

Meanwhile, Fatima Bouhajer, a member of the Empowerment Council for People of Determination and the coordinator of the Positive Spirit Initiative at the General Department of Community Happiness, expressed that the council, in collaboration with the Positive Spirit Initiative and Hemaya Education Schools, launched the ‘Together, We Thrive’ initiative at the beginning of the academic year.

The activities were organised in collaboration with the Tourist Police Department.

She stated, "The initiative aimed to celebrate the academic season with students of determination across different educational stages in Hemaya Schools. As part of this initiative, 44 students were gifted with school bags and stationery supplies, bringing happiness to their hearts. This initiative is one of a series of activities organised by Dubai Police throughout the year, in partnership with both the public and private sectors, to spread happiness among various segments of society, including people of determination."

The activities featured dazzling performances, including Dubai Police's mascot 'Amna', tourist security patrols, the K9 Unit, and the Mounted Police. The activities were organised in collaboration with the Tourist Police Department at the General Department of Criminal Investigation, the Department of Protective Security and Emergency, and Dubai Police Mounted Station Al Awir.
