The Dubai Court acquitted three Asians of the charge of possessing heroin and methamphetamine. The Dubai Public Prosecution referred the three defendants to the court and requested that they be punished according to the federal decree-law no. 30 for 2021 with respect to combating narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

The Dubai Public Prosecution based its request on the testimony of the police officer who arrested the defendants and the forensic laboratory report regarding the examination of the seized items.

The police officer from Al Barsha Police Station testified that he received a tip-off stating that a person possessed and was abusing narcotic substances, adding that the police rushed to the suspect’s place of residence and found three people in it.

"When they searched the place of residence, the police found a carton box with three capsules containing heroin, a metal box containing a heroin roll and a plastic bag with crystals, a tube and tablets of different shapes and sizes," he said.

The defendants stated that they had nothing to do with the seized items, denying that they abused narcotic drugs and consequently they were taken to the General Department of Anti-narcotics.

According to the forensic laboratory report, the seized items included heroin and methamphetamine. On interrogation, the defendants stated that they were residing in the apartment in which the narcotic substances were seized but had not any connection to the seized items.

The Dubai Court’s verdict stated that the defendants’ urine samples did not contain any narcotic substances, which proved that they did not abuse these narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances.
