His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, took a cycling tour of the bike path along the Dubai Water Canal on Monday afternoon.

Sheikh Mohammed was seen reviewing the latest facilities and services implemented by the Roads and Transport Authority.

This is not the first time Sheikh Mohammed has inspected the new bike path by himself.

In February 2022, the Dubai Ruler went on a bike tour of the track adjacent to Jumeirah Beach.

"A beautiful path that we add to 520 km of bike paths in Dubai, which pass through most beautiful landmarks of the city," tweeted Sheikh Mohammed.

"I will be in the field until Dubai becomes the best city to live in the world, God willing," concluded Sheikh Mohammed.

In September 2021, Sheikh Mohammed went on a bike tour of the Expo 2020 Dubai site with his entourage.

In November 2022, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) achieved a new Guinness world record that adds to its impressive tally of world records in having Al Qudra Cycling Track spanning 80.6 km declared as the longest continuous cycling path surpassing the previous world record registered in 2020 for a 33 km cycling track.

The construction of cycling tracks in Dubai is in response to the directives of Sheikh Mohammed so as to provide suitable and attractive options for residents and tourists of Dubai and encourage them to practice the sport of biking.

Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, also directed to transform Dubai into a bike-friendly city, by working to develop laws and the legislative system, and to apply international best practices in developing the infrastructure to suit the use of this sporty and environmentally safe method.
