UAE saw 607 accidents last year, reveals statistics by Ministry of Interior

As many as 607 traffic accidents took place on the UAE roads in 2022, according to the Statistics of the Ministry of Interior (MoI). According to the MoI, sudden deviation was the first cause of these accidents, while distraction while driving was the second.

The statistics showed that the Emirate of Abu Dhabi witnessed 72 accidents due to sudden deviation during 2022, while Dubai witnessed 420 accidents for the same reason.

Sharjah witnessed 21 accidents, Ajman 12, Umm Al Quwain 7, Ras Al Khaimah 39 and Fujairah saw 36, MoI added.

The Emirate of Abu Dhabi witnessed, during 2022, 401 traffic accidents due to being distracted from the road, while Sharjah recorded 67 accidents for the same reason, Ajman 9 accidents, Umm Al Quwain 6 accidents, RAK 48 accidents, while Fujairah witnessed5 accidents.

According to statistics, the total number of accidents due to not leaving a sufficient distance amounted to 505 accidents during 2022.

Abu Dhabi witnessed 64 accidents due to not leaving a sufficient distance, Dubai 369 accidents, Sharjah 24 accidents, Ajman 12 accidents, Umm Al Quwain two accidents, RAK 26 accidents, and Fujairah 8 accidents.

Regarding accidents caused due to non-compliance with the traffic lane, 241 accidents took place during 2022, as the Emirate of Abu Dhabi witnessed 139 accidents, Dubai 67 accidents, Sharjah 10 accidents, Ajman two accidents, Umm Al Quwain one accident, RAK 20 accidents, and Fujairah two accidents, MoI indicated.
