VIDEO: Burj Khalifa lights up to celebrate Philippines Independence Day
The Philippines national flag emblazoned on the facades of Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
The world’s tallest edifice, Burj Khalifa, was emblazoned with the red-white-blue-yellow colours of the Philippine flag on Monday (June 12), as the Southeast Asian nation celebrated its Independence Day.
BurjKhalifa said on Instagram, “Burj Khalifa lights up to commemorate the spirit, resilience and rich heritage of the Filipino people on their Independence Day. May this special day be filled with unity and joy as you celebrate the achievements and progress of your nation.”
The UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has sent a message of congratulations to President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos of the Philippines on the occasion of his country's Independence Day.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court, also sent a similar message to President Marcos.
It is the 125th year of Philippine Independence Day from Spain on Monday, June 12. As Filipinos are eternally engrossed with beauty pageants, three “pang Miss Universe” questions were posed to some in the UAE – for fun: What do you love most from/in the Philippines? Why so? How would you preserve as well as promote this to the world?
Christine Filomeno: “I cherish our culture of elder respect and family values. It makes every Filipino home welcoming. It motivates overseas Filipinos to come home. I will promote these by way of strong family bonds and happiness through gratitude, not materialism.”
Elleen Claridades: “As a Mindanaoan, I would like to preserve the Tnalak, the traditional hand-woven cloth by the T’boli people that represents major celebrations in life. Let us patronise and buy authentic Tnalak fabrics and products.”
