The Abu Dhabi Police have announced that a new speed limit has been set in place on Umm Yafina Street from Al Reem Island to Sheikh Zayed Road (Al Qurum).

The police said on Instagram, “The Abu Dhabi Police General Command, in cooperation with the Integrated Transport Center, calls on motorists to adhere to the new speed limit set on Umm Yafina Street from Al Reem Island to Sheikh Zayed Road (Al Qurum) in both directions, starting from Wednesday, June 7, 2023 AD.”

The police did not specify the new speed limit on the road, but the current speed barrier on the Al Reem Island to Sheikh Zayed Road stands at 100kmph.

The authorities said that the speed limit changes are likely to improve traffic flow, road accidents and safety of road users.

Last week, the Abu Dhabi Police announced a speed reduction on Sweihan Road from Al-Falah Bridge towards Abu Dhabi International Airport from 140 km/h to 120 km/h in order to enhance traffic safety.

The move came into effect from June 4, 2023.

Abu Dhabi Police have called on motorists to adhere to new speed limits and traffic laws.

The police said that traffic studies have shown that reducing speed leads to improvements in traffic safety levels on the roads and highway.
