Police arrest suspects cultivating narcotic plants inside a residential building in Sharjah

The Sharjah Public Prosecution is interrogating Asian suspects on charges of cultivating narcotic plants for trading purposes.
A report was received from a residential building superintendent in which he stated that when he was carrying out air-conditioning maintenance work in the building, he saw plants that looked like narcotics, so he informed the police.
After taking all legal measures, the police moved to the apartment subject of the report, where they saw a fully equipped tent that contained six plants suspected to be narcotics.
Materials and tools used for abusing narcotics and psychotropic substances were also seized.
The interrogations conducted by the public prosecution showed that the suspects had prepared the apartment to grow narcotics for trading purposes. Further investigations are under way.
Cultivating narcotics is a crime punishable by law according to Federal Decree-Law No. 30 for 2021 on combating narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
If proved that the narcotic drugs were for trading purposes, the offenders might face death penalty, the public prosecution said.
