With the reduction in diesel prices for the last three months since March 2023, Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has also reduced the intercity bus fares.

Depending on the routes and the distance, the SRTA has given commuters a relief of up to Dhs3 in bus fares. On small routes, the reduction is between Dhs1 and Dhs2, whereas on longer routes the fare has been reduced by up to Dhs3.

According to SRTA, the reduction in fares is based on lower fuel prices. For the month of May, a litre of diesel costs Dh2.91, which is down by 12 fils from Dh3.03 in April.

In April, the price of diesel was reduced by 11 fils and commuters paid Dhs 3.03 down from Dhs3.14 in March.

In February, the price of diesel per litre was Dh3.38, so there is a reduction of almost 47 fils per litre of diesel in the last three months.
