A 41-year-old Egyptian, G.M.G.A., passed away in Saqr Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah last Friday, due to a horrible accident he had during the first days of the Holy Month of Ramadan. The incident happened 3 hours before Iftar, which led to the amputation of his legs.

The victim died after he spent about 10 days receiving treatment in the intensive care unit, where several surgeries were performed on him to save his life.

His body was transported to Egypt, to be buried in his hometown.

Ahmed Kamal, the director of the company the deceased worked for, said that the victim was in a parking lot of a hotel at the time of the accident. He was accompanied by a private car driver, waiting for their friend. When he got out of the vehicle, he was run over by a car driven by an Arab national, causing him severe injuries.

He reportedly sustained major wounds on separate parts of his body, and doctors had to amputate both of his legs.

Kamal added that the victim had a wife, 4 children, and an elderly mother, who were all in Egypt. He had not travelled to his homeland or seen his children and wife for about a year and a half. He reportedly had been working and living in the UAE for more than 10 years.

A source indicated that the medical report proved that the cause of death was pulmonary embolism, due to multiple fractures in the femur.
