Dubai to give 20 random cyclists and E-scooter commuters Dhs1,000 each as part of ‘Safe Rider’ initiative.

The Road and Transport Authority said on Twitter, “As part of the Gulf Traffic Week 2023 activities, held between March 6 & 12, RTA is launching ‘The Safe Rider’ initiative for 2 days where 20 participants will be randomly awarded cash prizes of Dhs 1000, from bicycle & E-scooter riders.”

The Gulf Traffic Week aims to spread awareness on the importance of adhering to traffic rules and regulations among all segments of society to reduce the risk of accidents.

New cycling infrastructure is always cropping up in the capital Abu Dhabi as well as Dubai.

Opportunities for cyclists are growing in the UAE, in line with a global boom in the sport.

The 'Dubai Ride' was launched with great ceremony in 2020, with Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum leading the parade of cyclists down the six-lane Sheikh Zayed Road.

In 2022, close to 35,000 cyclists participated in the event held as part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge.
