The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced two Asians to two years in prison each, to be followed by deportation for stealing a vehicle and Dhs147,000 belonging to the company they worked for.

The case dates back to June last year, when an employee of an electronics trading company lodged a complaint with the police, stating that a vehicle and an envelope containing Dhs147,000 belonging to a company had been stolen.

The money was in possession of the employee, who was accompanied by the convicts, one of them was the vehicle’s driver, as they were on duty, the Court heard.

In interrogation, the employee stated that he had asked the driver to stop next to a grocery store to buy cigarettes and some items and he entered the grocery store.

When he returned, he was surprised that the vehicle was not in the same place, so he contacted the driver and the other, but they had turned off their phones.

Then, he realized that they had stolen the vehicle and the money, so he informed the police.

A cop also testified that the investigation team was able to locate the driver and his colleague, who were arrested and the money was in their possession.
