Over 5.77m expats registered in private sector in UAE: Ministry

The total number of workers registered in the private sector establishments nationwide of both genders reached 5,477,366 by the end of 2022, compared to 4,910,110 by the end of 2021, according to statistics issue by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE).

The number of workers increased by 567,256 since the beginning of 2022, the statistics added.

The Ministry’s statistics indicated that the number of males out of the total workers in the private sector reached 4,857,927 workers by end of 2022, compared to about 4,359,741 workers by the end of 2021, while the number of female workers reached 619,439 by the end of 2022, compared to about 550,369 by the end of 2021.

The MoHRE also stated that the total number of private sector establishments, until the end of 2022, reached 405,733 compared to 373,984 by the end of 2021, with an increase of 31,749 new establishments that entered the UAE labor market during the past year.

The Ministry classified 12 categories of employees in the private sector across the country for 2022, according their age groups.

The number of the employees of the age group between 16-19 years reached 29,308, employees of the age 20-24 years reached 565,421, employees of the age group between 25-29 reached 1,050,222, employees of the age group between 30-34 years reached 1,104,111, employees of the age group between 35-39 years reached 1,027,296, employees of the age group between 40-44 years reached 738,528 workers, employees of the age group between 45-49 years reached 448,035, employees of the age group between 50-54 years reached 280,996, employees of the age group between 55-59 years reached 140,222, employees of the age group between 60-64 years reached 63,525, employees of the age group between 65-69 years reached 22,828, and employees of the age group from 70 years and above reached 6,874.

The data indicates translate UAE’s powerful position globally in attracting investment, as the increase in employment is an indicator of an increase in the number of new establishments, as well as the expansion of business for existing companies and establishments, as a result of the expansion in demand for services, business and economic activities.

The increase in the number of workers in the private sector comes at a time when the UAE economy is witnessing a remarkable growth thanks to government policies and strategic initiatives that consolidate the position of the UAE and its active role within the global economy.
