The Dubai Court of misdemeanors and minor offences sentenced an Arab for 3 months in jail, to be followed by deportation after serving his sentence, on charges of stealing a passport, a phone and personal belongings of a compatriot who was swimming in the JBR beach in Dubai.

The details of the incident date back to October 2022, when an Arab visitor discovered the disappearance of a plastic bag in which he kept his personal belongings while swimming in the JBR area in Dubai.

According to the victim’s statement in the interrogations, on the day of the incident, he put his personal belongings in a bag next to him on the beach and went for a swim, but after his return, he discovered that the bag had disappeared, so he reported the incident to the police.

According to the case file, a team of investigators collected inferences and scanned the surveillance cameras in the place to find out that another person stole the items.

After his identity and location were known, he was arrested.

On being questioned, he confessed to stealing the plastic bag which contained a phone, which he sold for Dhs250 to a compatriot, and disposed of the other items in the waste bin.
