The Ras Al Khaimah Court of First Instance acquitted a woman of insulting her husband, while a flash memory and WhatsApp audio messages proved the husband’s conviction after each claimed that he had been insulted by the other party.

The court acquitted the woman due to the lack of conclusive evidence, and fined the husband, in absentia, Dhs5,000 after the wife attached with her lawsuit audio recordings which her husband sent to her, insulting her and accusing her with indecent words. The wife headed to the Public Prosecution with a flash memory, which included 7 audio files, to prove that her husband insulted her.

The husband claimed before the prosecution that he did not intend to insult his wife, but rather he meant to let her know that what she was doing was not responsible. He also claimed that she was acting badly, claiming that she smoked the electronic hookah in front of children, and when he asked her to stop it, she did not respond and demanded divorce.  The husband confessed that all the audio recordings attached to the case file belonged to him, while he did not provide sufficient conclusive evidence to prove his wife had insulted him.

The wife told the police that her husband was always nervous, and when any discussion occurs between them, he used to leave the house and then send her voice messages via WhatsApp which included insults.
