The Dubai Court of Appeal upheld a one-year jail term issued by the Criminal Court against three persons convicted for stealing Dhs3,500 from an employee at knifepoint in Naif area.

The convicts were also fined Dhs3,5000 jointly, in addition they will be deported after serving their jail terms.

The case dates back to last December, when an Asian employee filed a report stating that he had been robbed and assaulted by a gang, while on his way to the Naif area.

The employee explained that he was surprised by three people who suddenly assaulted him while he was on his way to the Naif area after midnight.

He tried to resist the gangsters, who ordered him to give them the money he had while threatening and beating him with blunt objects in different parts of his body, before fleeing the place, the court heard.

The investigations at the Dubai Police identified the gang member through their search and investigation and arrested them.

The employeealso identified the suspects.

They confessed to robbing the victim and distributing the stolen amount among them.
