America urges its citizens to leave Ukraine rightaway

The US Embassy in Kyiv warned its citizens residing in the capital of a possibility of Russian military attacks against Ukrainian areas in the coming days around Ukraine's Independence Day.

The embassy urged American citizens to leave if they can.

The State Department has information that Russia is stepping up its efforts to launch attacks against Ukrainian civilians and government infrastructure and facilities in the coming days.

The US Embassy urged citizens to leave Ukraine now using privately available ground transportation options if possible.

The embassy wrote on its website, “It is safe to do so,” repeating the advice from previous security advisories.

Kyiv on Wednesday banned public celebrations in the capital on the anniversary of independence from Soviet rule, citing an increased threat of attack.
