The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced an Asian masseur to 3 months in jail to be followed by deportation and fined him Dhs58,000 on charges of stealing a wristwatch worth the same amount of the fine that belonged to a Gulf visitor residing in a Dubai hotel.

The case dated back to last March when a Gulf visitor filed a complaint in which he stated that his wristwatch had disappeared inside a hotel in which he was staying.

The complainant stated in the investigations that his wristwatch, which was of a well-known brand, was worth around Dhs58,000 and was lost near the hotel’s health club. The incident was reported to the police accordingly.

According to the case file, a team of detectives interrogated the health club personnel and consequently an Asian masseur admitted that he had found the wristwatch in a water closet inside the health club and had hidden it inside the massage room so as to lay hold of it the following day.
