VIDEO: UAE sets up field hospital for quake victims in Afghan province

Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, a field hospital has been set up in earthquake-hit Afghanistan.

The hospital has been established in the southeastern province of Khost to treat the affected people.  

The UAE President ordered that an air bridge must be established to respond to the victims of Afghanistan earthquake that killed at least 1,000 people.

The 6.1-magnitude quake last Wednesday hit hardest the impoverished Paktika province, leaving tens of thousands homeless.


According to Tolo News, “The foundation has been laid… the work has started on the clinic. Soon a clinic will be constructed for us,” an official said.  

Obaidullah Sadarkhail, Head of the Afghan traders’ council in UAE, said that the air bridge has been providing humanitarian support, which includes food and other basic supplies to the people affected by the earthquake.

Local media reported that people of the Khost province have expressed concerns about their economic conditions and sought more aid.  

The Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation and the Emirates Red Crescent, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, are working on implementing the directives of the wise leadership.

The joint relief aid among the Emirati humanitarian institutions underlined the UAE's commitment to humanitarian approach that enhances its relief response and meet the urgent needs for brotherly and friendly countries in need, in order to consolidate the value of the boundless giving.
