The operations room and patrols at the Sharjah Police were able to help a driver, 22, Emirati, stop his vehicle, after its cruise control had broken down at a speed of 120 km/h, on the Khorfakkan Road towards the Sharjah.

According to an official source, the Central Operations Room at the Sharjah Police on Wednesday early morning at 2:10 am, received a call from an Emirati, reporting that the cruise control of his vehicle broke down at speed of 120 km/h on the Khorfakkan Road in the direction of Sharjah.

Accordingly, a number of patrols were dispatched to the specified location, as they dealt with the situation immediately and professionally. First, they made sure that he is fastened with the seatbelt to ensure his safety, and took the safety measures followed in such cases.

They also urged the driver to remain completely calm, focus and attentive, and to stay on the fast lane with keeping the warning lights of his on. They also coordinated with the patrols on the road, to prevent any danger posed by other vehicles that may be on the vehicle’s path.

The vehicle was accompanied by two patrols, one in front and the other behind it. To stop the vehicle without causing any injuries to its driver, the patrol driver made his vehicle in front of the vehicle with the malfunctioned cruise control until the two vehicles were stuck together, and then gradually slowed the patrol’s speed until it was stopped smoothly, without causing any injuries to the driver.

The Sharjah Police call on motorists not to rely entirely on the cruise control, stressing the need to adhere to the speeds limits established on the road.
