The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced a taxi driver to three months in jail to be followed by deportation on charges of raping a European girl while taking her home, taking advantage of her being under the influence of alcoholic beverages.

The incident took place in November last year when a girl filed a complaint in which she stated that she had been raped by a taxi driver.

According to her statement in the investigations, she used a taxi app to request a vehicle to take her home because she was under the influence of alcoholic beverages and could not drive her vehicle.

The complainant added that she felt drowsy as soon as the vehicle moved and fell asleep after giving the driver the address.

She, however, woke up near her home to be surprised by the driver raping her. She punched him several times and screamed and consequently he fled the place.

A policeman stated in the investigations that a team of detectives managed to arrest the driver, who denied raping the girl.

After gathering inferences and checking the taxi’s surveillance cameras, it was proved that the driver had raped the girl.
