The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced five Asians in their presence and another in absentia to three years in jail and fined them Dhs114,000 on charges of stealing Dhs191,000 from the safe of a trading company in Al Nakheel area in Dubai after tying and assaulting the company’s account officer.

In the same session, the court acquitted a building guard of the charge of participating in and facilitating the gang’s theft.

The case dates back to September last year when the manager of a Dubai-based general trading company filed a complaint that his company had been robbed by an Asian gang after tying and assaulting his account officer.

According to his statement in the investigations, the manager said he received a phone call from the victim on the same day of the incident telling him that he had been assaulted by an Asian gang, which managed to tie him steal Dhs191,000 that was in the company’s safe.

A policeman stated in the investigations that a team of detectives gathered inferences and were able to identify and locate the suspects.

The team later arrested the suspects with part of the stolen money in their possession.

The suspects confessed to having agreed to rob the company after deceiving the guard.

They later divided the money among them and sent part of the money to their families in their home countries.
