Ministry reduces prices of 188 medicines

Abdulrahman Bin Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention (Mohap), issued five decisions, including three regarding prices of 221 medicinal products.

According to the decisions, prices of 188 products have been decreased, while prices of 24 items have been raised, prices of eight items have been set, and only one product has been excluded, as it is sold in pharmacies without prescriptions.

The decisions, which were published in the recent issue of the Official Gazette, came based on requirements of the public interest.

The Minister issued the decision No. 14 of 2022 regarding setting the prices of some medicines, decreasing prices of 151 listed medicinal items, in addition to excluding one medicinal product that is sold in pharmacies without a prescription from the pricing. Moreover, prices of 22 products have been decreased, while prices of 20 other medicinal prices have been raised, according to the decision.

The decision No. 12 of 2022 set prices of eight medicines and raised prices of four others.

While, the decision No. 13 of 2022 decreased prices of 15 listed products.

The Minister also issued the decision No. 21 of 2022 regarding the adoption of the annual report form for medical assisted reproductive centres.

He further issued the decision No. 22 of 2022 regulating the transportation, storage and distribution of medical products or raw materials used in their manufacture.

He also issued the decision No. 19 of 2022 regarding diagnosis of death, which states that “death is diagnosed either by a complete and final cessation of the heart and breathing, or by a complete and final cessation of all brain functions, and that doctors have ruled that this cessation is irreversible.

In addition, the decision No. 550 of 2017 regarding the criteria for diagnosing death has been cancelled and any other provision that contradicts the provisions of this decision. It was published in the recent issue of the Official Gazette.
