UAE records 7.7°C, light rain witnessed in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah

Cars move at a slow pace during rain in Abu Dhabi.

The National Centre of Metrology (NCM) reported that separate areas in the country, on Sunday early morning, witnessed fall of light to medium rain, because of the country being affected by an extension of a surface low from the east and an extension of high pressure from the west, accompanied with an upper air high pressure.

Light rain began to fall at 1:30 am on Al Mizhar and Oud Al Muteena areas in Dubai, Mleiha and Khorfakkan Road in Sharjah, Al Samha and Al Rahba in Abu Dhabi, Al Rigga in Umm Al Quwain, Al Hudayba in Ras Al Khaimah, while it was medium on the Al Maidan area in Dubai, according to the NCM

The Center also indicated that Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah recorded the lowest temperature in the country that reached 7.7ºC on Sunday morning at 06:45 am.

The National Centre of Meteorology also called the public to exercise caution while driving during rain and the lack of horizontal visibility, caused by rain and winds, advising them to stay away from sloping places and surface run-offs.

The Abu Dhabi Police also called on drivers to be careful due to weather fluctuations and to abide by the variable speed shown on signs and electronic road signs.

The NCM also noted that the weather on Tuesday is expected to be partly cloudy to cloudy at times, and likely to be associated with light rainfall over some areas especially the northern parts and islands.

Moderate northwesterly to northeasterly winds are also expected, freshening at times, with a speed 15 - 25, reaching 40 km/hr. The sea will be rough becoming moderate in the Arabian Gulf and slight in the Oman Sea, the NCM added.

The Center continued, “The weather on Wednesday is expected to be partly cloudy to cloudy at times with a probability of rainfall over islands, and some northern and coastal areas by night.

Temperatures tend to slightly increase. Light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds, freshening at times with clouds, with a speed 15 - 25, reaching 40 km/hr. The sea will be slight to moderate, may become rough at times by Thursday morning in the Arabian Gulf and slight in the Oman Sea.”

Weather on Thursday is also expected to remain partly cloudy to cloudy at times with a chance of rainfall over scattered areas, the NCM added. The winds will be light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly, freshening at times with clouds, with a speed 15 - 25, reaching 40 km/hr.

“The sea will be slight to moderate, may become rough at times in the Arabian Gulf and slight to moderate, may become rough at times with clouds by Friday morning in the Oman Sea,” the NCM said.
