An American security officer at Newark Liberty International Airport saved a two-month-old baby who stopped breathing at a security checkpoint.

The video of the incident went viral on social media.

A video clip broadcast by the US Transportation Security Administration showed the accident that occurred earlier this month, where the mother of the child appears in a frightened state, holding her baby in her arms, after he nearly died of suffocation.

In the video, Officer Cecilia Morales, an emergency medicine technician with 10 years of experience who has been with the Transportation Security Administration for only two months, shows jumping over a checkpoint and carrying the infant to perform Heimlich manoeuvre.

The officer patted the infant's back several times until he breathed again, and later he was supplied with oxygen by the emergency teams at the airport.

The policewoman's behavior and speed of action were widely praised on social media, especially since she only moved two months ago to work within the American Transportation Authority, and it was the first time for her to save a baby from suffocation.
