India travel update: Mumbai issues fresh guidelines for travellers returning from Dubai

The authorities in Mumbai on Friday issued fresh travel guidelines for passengers returning to the city from Dubai, UAE.

According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), travellers from Dubai, and who are residents of Mumbai will have to undergo home quarantine.

The circular read that they will be monitored by Ward War Room for seven days.

The municipal body said that on the seventh day of home quarantine a PCR test will be conducted.

If the test result is negative, the traveler will be told to self-monitor for another seven days.

In the advent of a positive case, the person will be shifted to institutional quarantine followed by tests.

Travel Guidelines:

A mandatory home quarantine for 7-day for Mumbai residents returning from Dubai

No need for PCR test on arrival

Passengers who are not Mumbai residents but reside in other parts of Maharashtra will be transferred to their location.

Passengers arriving from Dubai from other areas of Maharashtra will not be allowed to use public transport

Travellers on connecting flights to other states or to other parts of Maharashtra will be allowed to take flights.


The Indian airport authorities have informed the respective Airport Officer regarding the travellers arriving from Dubai.

According to the BMC circular and with the emergence of Omicron cases, monitoring of international travellers is required, especially those arriving from "countries at-risk."

The decision was taken in view of Dubai being the hub where passengers change flights at airport.
