An overspeeding truck loaded with fruits and vegetable overturned on Corniche Al Mimzar Square in Sharjah on Wednesday.
26-year-old Asian driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
The incident disrupted the traffic movement on the Corniche as the entire load of the truck got scattered on the road.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Omer Bu Ghanem, Deputy Director of Traffic and Patrols Department at Sharjah Police, the operations room received a report at 1:45pm that a truck loaded with vegetable and fruit boxes overturned on the Corniche Al Mamzar Square after the driver lost control of the truck.
Traffic patrols and national ambulance and firefighting engines were rushed to the scene, he said.
The traffic patrol helped in clearing the road of vegetables, fruits and regulated the traffic in the vicinity of the square and ensure smooth traffic flow until the traffic movement returned to normal.
The police’s quick response and heroic act have saved more than 93 people from a gas leak that took place in a metal scrap shop in Al Sajaa Industrial Area. The incident resulted in the death of a person, and others in critical conditions.
