VIDEO: Mild earthquake hits UAE, scared residents rush out of homes

Sharjah residents wait outside their homes in Al Khan area on Sunday.

Mild earthquake felt in the UAE at 4.10pm on Sunday.

The UAE Meteorological Center reported that earthquake felt in several emirates, measuring 2.3 on the Richter scale.

Dubai resident Rachel McArthur wrote on Twitter, “Anyone else feel that? #earthquake #dubai …Lasted a good few minutes as well.”

Mohamed Sabe said, “Yes I felt it. It was long.”

Naveed Cheema told Gulf Today, “I also felt although not very intense but enough to be felt.”

Yusuf Hasan aldo responded, “Yes , it was an intense one but don’t know the magnitude.”

Nawsaim wrote on Twitter, “I did feel while I was praying… my window grills were shaking.”

Glen Em said, “Had some minor shaking in my apartment in Ras Al Khaimah.”

Sukumar told Gulf Today, “I also felt mild jerk in my flat in Al Nahda Dubai.”

Nacho Pereira wrote on Twitter, “Yes, I thought it was me but the ceiling lamp was moving...”

A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck Hormozgan Province, Iran at 4:08 pm.

The affected countries are UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar and Afghanistan.

In Sharjah, several people were seen waiting outside their home in Al Khan area.
