IGCF opens in Sharjah with participation of 79 experts

Under the patronage of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the 10th edition of the International Government Communication Forum (IGCF) kicked off on Sunday at Expo Centre Sharjah.

Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of Sharjah Media Council, delivered his opening speech at the inauguration, saying, "IGCF explores in depth the human communication."

Prince Turki Al-Faisal, Chairman of King Faisal Foundation's Centre for Research and Islamic Studies, arrived at the venue of the 10th IGCF, and was received by several heads of government departments.

The first interactive session of 10th IGCF kicked off under the theme “Leading in times of crisis”, delivered by Alastair Campbell, British politician, former Prime Minister Tony Blair’s Spokesman and Press Secretary and Director of Communications and Strategy.

Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, during his speech at the opening of the 10th IGCF said: “We cross another milestone of media achievements."

Second main session within the 10th IGCF kicks off under the title” How to Break the Hold of Conspiracy Theories.”

Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the Arab League in his welcoming speech at the opening of the 10th IGCF, said, "Government communication aided governments to get closer to people during the COVID-19 pandemic."

Omar Farook, Bahraini social media influencer and filmmaker, delivered the first inspirational talk at the 10th IGCF titled “Communicating with the General Public.”

Organised by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB) under the slogan ‘Historic Lessons, Future Ambitions’, the prestigious two-day forum has brought together a host of 79 communication experts, among of them former presidents, ministers, decision-makers, government officials, as well as an elite group of influencers and media professionals from 11 Arab and foreign countries.

IGCF 2021 promises to present best models of communication with peoples and societies in different circumstances, shedding light on policy-makers and those who contributed to the transfer of Arab culture to the world.

The 2-day-forum will discuss crisis management mechanisms through innovative and contemporary communication methods. It will further address the future of governments’ discourse to the public through 31 activities distributed between 7 dialogue sessions, 5 inspiring speeches, 7 training workshops and 12 interactive platforms.
