The Dubai Criminal Court on Tuesday sentenced an Asian domestic worker to life imprisonment for premeditatedly murdering his elderly employer, GCC national, by strangling with a piece of cloth.

The convict, who had been assigned to take care of victim’s regular and health needs, admitted that he had killed the victim while being alone with him in his room.

He strangled him by an “Ezar” (a piece of cloth) until he died on the spot, the convict told the Public Prosecution.

In the court, after the servant had killed his employer, he claimed to the victim’s wife that her husband fell unconscious due to his illness.

She thought that it might be a diabetic coma, and did not suspect the servant.

She immediately called her children, while the servant (convict) quickly called the ambulance.

The police suspected the servant, as he left the place before they arrived, especially that a blueness appeared in the face of the victim, and a piece of cloth was found around his neck.

Moreover, one of the victim’s sons stated that his father had previously told him that his servant had assaulted him 3 different times.

The police were able to arrest the perpetrator the next day after his crime.

On questioning him, he confessed to killing the victim by strangling him by his “Ezar”, claiming that the reason behind his crime was the victim was treating him badly.

He was also hitting him with a stick, and often scolding him during his service, the convict added.

He also noted that he did not receive his financial dues for a long period.

Through the investigations, the public prosecution found many paradoxes in the incident.

The first was that the victim had previously complained to his children that the servant had assaulted him more than once.

The second was that the servant is a gardener, and he is not a specialist in care and nursing.

The Public Prosecution referred the killer to the Criminal Court on the charge of premeditated murder, where he was sentenced to life imprisonment.
