The 107th Open Auction for Distinctive Vehicle Number Plates held by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) at the InterContinental Dubai Festival City Hotel on Saturday Aug.28 has raised Dhs36.276 million. Plate (E 55) was the sales topper at Dhs3.64 million, followed by plate (W 29) which was sold for Dhs2.5 million, Plate (X 35) for Dhs2.48 million, Plate (V 88888) fetched Dhs0.99 million, and Plate (V 9999), which was sold for Dhs0.86 million.

RTA offered 100 fancy plates for bidding at this auction comprising of two, three, four and five-digit plates of categories (E-H-I-K-L-M-N-O-P-Q-R-S-T-U-V-W-X-Y-Z).

By offering distinctive licensing plates at open or online auctions, RTA is seeking to provide a neutral and transparent platform that avails fair opportunities to all bidders.

Such plates are appealing to passionate clients as they symbolise important events in their lives.

These auctions are also of great importance to RTA as they serve the needs of a wide range of customers.

Recently, the open number plates auction held by the RTA in Dubai donated Dhs38 million to support the 100 Million Meals campaign.

Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) raised Dhs50,450,000 for the “100 Million Meals” campaign through a numbers’ charity auction.

Dhs48,500,000 was raised through auctioning single-and double-digit car plates and exclusive mobile numbers, and Dhs1,950,000 through direct donations from the attendance.

The civic body sold AA9 number plate for Dhs38 million.

The number E 51 was sold for Dhs2.4 million.

UAE’s leading telecommunication company Etisalat sold a number 0569999999 for Dhs3 million.
