GCC national jailed for kidnap and robbery of Asian in Dubai

The Dubai Appellate Court amended verdict of the Court of First Instance jailing a GCC national 3 years to one year, on charges of conniving with fugitives to kidnap, attack, threaten an Asian and steal Dhs10,000 from him.
The case dates back to January 2021, when the victim filed a complaint, alerting that he was kidnapped and attacked while he was walking on a street in Dubai.
The victim added that the GCC suspect threatened him with an air gun and forced him, with the help of the fugitives into a vehicle which they drove behind the Dubai hospital.
He added that the suspects attacked him and stole Dhs10,000 from him and then let him go.
According to the case papers, the convict was driving a rented car in Al Muteina area with the other suspects. They planned to rob the victim after kidnapping and threatening him.
They impersonated CID men and when the victim asked them to show their military card, they threatened him and beat him up.
The police identified and arrested the suspect with the air gun used in the crime.
On being interrogated, he confessed to the crime.
