The 19-year-old American girl Claire Mack from Chicago, USA, suffered from a persistent cough for two and a half months, but she tried to treat herself with some medications.

A month later, the girl had to go to the hospital for treatment, because she accidentally injured herself with a barbed wire, then decided at the same time to examine the cause of her cough.

The doctor told the American girl that she likely had some kind of lung infection, and sent her for a chest x-ray.

The surprise came, and the results of the examination were completely unexpected, as Claire learned that her heart is not on the left side of the chest, but unlike most people, on the right.

And when the doctor told the girl, she thought he was joking, the British media reported.

The doctor explained that this is called Dextrocardia, as most of the heart is located on the right side of the chest, and less than 1% of people are born with this heart arrangement, and this condition is usually not life-threatening.

The girl shared her story on the TikTok, and many users were surprised how, in 19 years, none of the doctors had found out about it.

Many have wondered about this case, and among the questions I was asked in the comments: “How did doctors fail to notice this during routine examinations?

For so many years, did she never feel her heart beating on the right?”
