Emirati and Saudi teachers win Dhs1m Best GCC Teacher awards

The Mohamed Bin Zayed Award for Best GCC Teacher on Sunday announced winners of the third edition of the Dhs1 million award.

Noura Abdullah Al Neyadi-special education teacher at Mohammed Bin Khaled School in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, and Ahmed Hussain Al Malki of Al Hajfa Primary School in Saudi Arabia, have been announced winners of the Mohammed Bin Zayed Award for Best GCC Teacher-2020.

The Award grants Dhs1 million for each winner.

The Award is one of the most prominent educational awards in the Arab world.

It enjoys great support by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

The Award goes beyond its scope of objectives of honouring outstanding teachers, as it devotes a new vision and a long-term perspective to excellence in education.

The Award seeks to promote the advancement of teachers not only on the local level, but on the Gulf level too.

Such annual awards are used as an important tool to stimulate the educational field to provide his best performance, work and productivity.

The award-winning Emirati teacher, Noura Abdullah Al Niyadi, said, “My winning of the Mohamed Bin Zayed Award for Best GCC Teacher is a medal on my chest, especially that it bears the name of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.”

“I have been for two years seeking to be nominated for the award and this year my efforts have been crowned by nomination and winning the award,” she said.

This was during her participation in the virtual closing ceremony organised at the Louvre Abu Dhabi, in the presence of the Minister of Education and the General Supervisor of the Award, Hussein Al Hammadi, and a number award committee's members.

She also indicated that during her academic career, she implemented many initiatives and programmes that qualified her for this award, including the first camp for students of determination, wishes fulfillment programme of people of determination, and the social support programme for people of determination.

The Award expanded the scope of the targeted countries to participate in it, to include the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the two guests of honour.

It has been also opened for the teachers residing in the participating countries who work according to the education system approved in them in the third edition 2019-2020.
