The Dubai Public Prosecution has referred an Arab partner, 52 years old, to Criminal Court on forgery and scam charges. He had forged a villa contract in order to avoid paying a Dhs400,000 rent to owner.

The incident took place during May, 2018, when the defendant took the help of an employee to rent this specific villa and asked him to address the villa owner to set a rent value.

The owner decided on a Dhs400,000 rent and the defendant agreed on the price. He received the keys and mentioned that he was going to sign the leasing contract in some other time.

Since June of 2018 and until today, the defendant stalled signing the contract despite being repeatedly asked to do so by the villa owner. Soon after, the victim found out that a forged leasing contract was submitted to the Dubai Real Estate Regulatory Department. The defendant had forged the victim’s signature and rent value. He was arrested by police and prosecuted by Dubai courts on forgery charges to be sentenced to jail-term punishment for his actions.
