Massive fire breaks out in an abandoned building on Al Wahda Street

Civil Defence teams successfully put out the fire.

A massive fire broke out in an abandoned building, consisting of 5 floors at Al Wahda Street, Sharjah, on Tuesday afternoon. 

Civil Defence teams and police patrols rushed to the scene, and have successfully put out the fire that ignited on the building’s first floor and mezzanine.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

Residents of Al Wahda Street posted about the fire on a social media group, stating that they thought, they heard a loud explosion right before the fire took place.

According to Sharjah resident Lyle Ham, he was on board his 4X4 and on his way to the hospital when he saw smoke coming from a building by the first subway on Al Wahda Street, towards Dubai at 12:12 pm on Tuesday.

The building on fire was next to that which houses the Mango shoe store.

The next thing he knew was a loud explosion erupted which he thought was one of his rear tires.

The authorities are investigating to find out the cause of fire.
