African burglar sentenced to 6 months in jail for assaulting and robbing Asian in Dubai

The Dubai Criminal Court has sentenced an African man to 6 months in jail, followed by deportation and a Dhs500 fine, for assaulting and robbing an Asian man in Dubai.
The incident took place during last November, when the victim was driving in Al Qouz Area in the middle of the night, and came across the defendant who stopped him and asked for a ride.
The good-hearted victim did not hesitate to help the defendant, who got into the vehicle and sat next to the victim while planning to execute his robbery soon.
Awhile after, the defendant unexpectedly chocked the victim, asking for all the money he had.
The defendant threatened that he had nearby friends who would hurt the victim if he did not give up his money.
The victim took out his wallet and handed over Dhs500 and gave up his phone and its passcode.
The defendant then got out of the vehicle and fled the place thinking he had gotten away with his crime.
Luckily, a nearby police patrol was alerted with the robbery and managed to place the defendant under arrest in the same area where the robbery took place.
