Two brothers from Comoros were arrested by Dubai Police for stealing cars in Dubai. Second brother was held several days after the first one was nabbed.
Both used the same modus operandi to commit their crime.
According to Ahmed Thani, the station received a complaint from a person that his car had been stolen in the area of jurisdiction of Al Raffa Police Station.
"All patrols were instructed to intensify their efforts in the area in search for the stolen car," Ahmed Thani added.
After combing all the areas of the station’s jurisdiction, using the car’s plate number and the given description, the patrols were able to spot the car within hours, he said.
Several days later, the station received another complaint that another car had been stolen in the same modus operandi, Bin Ghalaita said, noting that a team was formed and instructed to move quickly before the perpetrator could dispose of the stolen car.
The team was able to identify the thief by tracking him on the roads he took using Dubai Police’s special techniques and to arrest him.
He was found to be the brother of the first thief, who together were specialised in handling luxury and new cars.
The police investigations clarified that a woman parked her car in front of a store for shopping, and when she was on her way back, an anonymous woman pushed her, got into her car, and drove off quickly.
The Dubai Misdemeanor Court sentenced two Africans a man and a woman to one month in jail and fined them Dhs30,000 after the woman had stolen Dhs1,000 from a US citizen plus a gold chain.
The official explained that the police station received 3 reports in a row from homeowners stating that they had been robbed while they were outside. Suspects broke into three houses in the Al Qusais area and stole Dhs193,000, Dhs87,000, and Dhs150,000 from them.
Two Asians lured an Asian girl to a villa rented by one of them where they raped her and stole Dhs7,000 that was in her possession. They also forced her to give them her password of a shopping app and transfer Dhs180,000 from her bank account to several people in their home country.
