A gang of four Africans and an Asian were sentenced to 2 years imprisonment followed by deportation, after they had robbed a villa in Dubai.

Official records point out that the gang had been watching the villa until it was clear of residents to execute their robbery plan.

They jumped over the fence and broke a window to enter the premises, then robbed the owner’s safe with all its belongings.

The safe contained golden jewelry worth Dhs250,000, and a cash amount of Dhs70,000 along with the owner’s documents and bank checks.

During investigations, the victim testified that he went for a family occasion outside the Emirate on the day of the robbery.

When the owner returned, he found that the lights of one of the bedrooms were on, and noticed that some of the villa’s items were misplaced.

After finding out that the safe was missing, the victim immediately reported the incident to police.

Police carried out their investigations and successfully arrested one of the defendants while trying to flee the country.

The defendant confessed to committing the robbery along with his accomplices, and admitted to committing similar villa robberies.

The gang members were arrested one by one and prosecuted to receive maximum legal punishment.

Separately, the generosity of an Asian driver living in Dubai city was repaid by an unexpected robbery attack by an African man who only asked for a free ride.

During last November, the 28-year-old African suspect decided to use a different robbery method and plan his attack on an innocent driver by asking for help in the middle of the night and claiming to have wanted a nearby place.

The good-hearted citizen did not bare to leave the suspect roaming the streets with no other cars available in that area, so he decided to let him in without having any suspicion.

The suspect rode in the front seat next to the driver, then launched his attack minutes after they moved, as he suddenly strangled the driver and began to beat him to give up his belongings.
