The government retreat to plan the next 50 years, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, began on Tuesday, with the participation of government ministers and officials from federal and local authorities.
The retreat, being held at Bab Al Shams, aims to draft a comprehensive strategy for the next 50 years covering all vital development sectors, which will strengthen the UAE’s leading regional position and enhance its competitiveness.
At the opening session of the 2021 ministerial retreat that started on Tuesday, Mohammad Bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, announced that a new dynamic governance will lead federal ministries, departments and institutions as part of the national priorities for the country’s next phase.
Gergawi stressed that the country’s next 50 years call for a full collaboration among the country’s public, semi-private and private sectors, under an integrated system, to develop innovative work models that define the UAE’s next development journey.

Sheikh Mohammed said since its formation, the UAE has presented a unique success story in all sectors, thanks to the futuristic vision and noble principles established by the founding leaders. He noted, "Over the past 50 years, we started from the desert of our land to the desert of Mars. Our dreams will be even bigger for the next 50 years."

Thick fog continued to form for the second day in a row across various parts in the country on Thursday. The fog lasted for 12 hours and a half in several areas of the country on Thursday, as it started at exactly 10 pm and continued until 10:30am, because of the country being affected by surface high-pressure systems, accompanied with a ridge of upper air high pressure, according to the National Centre for Meteorology (NCM).
The Sharjah Child Friendly Office (SCFO), an affiliate of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, has strengthened Sharjah’s status as a child, youth, and family-friendly city in 2021 by implementing 30 initiatives and campaigns, and through its participation in local and international events.
