An Asian student, 27, was arrested and referred to criminal court on forgery and robbery charges after he stole a phone in Dubai.

The police report was filed by a salesperson, who claimed that the defendant had bought a phone through a shopping website and failed to pay its price.

The defendant met the salesperson and was supposed to pay the amount.
The victim testified that the defendant had pretended to forget his wallet in the car and went to fetch it. The victim said he never came back to pay for the purchased phone.

However, the defendant took his girlfriend’s ID to sell the phone for Dhs2,400.
Investigations revealed the whereabouts of the defendant, and he was placed under arrest by police teams.

The defendant confessed to using a fake ID to scam the salesperson and steal the phone.

The girlfriend was also detained and questioned about her relation to the stolen phone case, but she denied knowing what the defendant was up to and claimed that she had lost her ID right after she was involved with the defendant.
