The Dubai Public Prosecution has sentenced an Asian maid to three months of imprisonment, followed by deportation for robbing her employer in Dubai.

The incident dates back to last October when an Arab woman of Gulf nationality filed a police report against her maid for robbing large amounts of money and jewellery from her house.

During investigations, the victim testified that she had noticed the disappearance of her jewellery and cash amounts over a long period of time and had suspected the maids at her house to have committed the robbery.

The victim decided to send the maids to her father’s house, then took that advantage to search their rooms and lockers until she find a stolen amount of Dhs3,200 and her jewellery.

Later on the employer directly asked her maid about the stolen items, and the defendant confessed to committing the robbery, claiming that she had stolen the gold as it was old and already broken, thinking that her employer did not need to use it.
