VIDEO: Rain hits several areas of Sharjah, Ajman, Dubai; temperature drops to 6.7°C

Moderate rain was experienced in several areas of the UAE on Wednesday, bringing the temperature down by a few notches.  

Sharjah and Ajman witnessed rain in scattered areas. Al Kuwait Street in Ajman saw heavy downpour.  

Sharjah’s Al Hamriya and Al Raffa areas witnessed good rain.

Dubai’s Al Marsa Street, Jumeirah Road, Umm Al Sheif, Al Manara, Global Village and Arabian Ranches experienced rain in the past 24 hours.  

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said, “A chance of rainy clouds formation, associated with fresh winds at times over some coastal areas especially Northward. From 21:00 Wednesday 09/12/2020 till 08:00 tomorrow Thursday 10/12/2020.”

Authorities in the country said they are prepared to deal with any weather related situations.

On the other hand, the lowest temperature recorded over the country on Wednesday was 6.7°C at Jabal Jais at 02:00 UAE Local Time.

The highest temperature recorded over the country was 28.6°C in Sweihan in Abu Dhabi at 14:15 UAE Local Time.

The NCM expects the weather on Thursday to be partly cloudy to cloudy at times on the islands and some coastal, northern and eastern areas with a probability of light rain.

The winds will be moderate to active onshore, according to the NCM.

The sea will be rough in the Arabian Gulf and moderate in the Sea of Oman, according to the NCM.

Authorities have called on the motorists to exercise caution while driving under the rain, and during the low horizontal visibility caused by raised dust and dirt.

It also advised people to stay away from valleys and the surface-run-offs.
