The Dubai Police have arrested a young man for insulting and threatening the police officers in a video that he posted on social media.

The accused has been referred to the competent authorities, Dubai Police said.

Under Article No.20 of the UAE Cyber Crime Law Combating information technology crimes, any person who insults others or has attributed to another an incident that may make him subject to punishment or contempt by others by using an electronic site shall be punished by imprisonment or a fine of not less than Dhs250,000 and not exceeding Dhs500,000. Insult or slander against public employees is considered an aggravating circumstance of the crime.

On the other hand, the Dubai Criminal Court imprisoned a 32 year-old Arab woman for three months to be followed by deportation after serving the jail term on charges of assaulting a policewoman while being on duty.

Details of the incident date back to last June, when the girl suspect assaulted a policewoman during her arrest, filming her, and threatening her inside the police station, and deliberately destroying the contents of the station.
