The Criminal Court in Dubai on Sunday issued a one-year-jail term against an Asian convicted of stealing Dhs80,000 from an Arab man.

The convict will be deported after serving the imprisonment, the Court ordered.

The case dates back to last December, when an Asian man snatched an envelope containing cash from an Arab sales manager.

According to the police records, the sales manager stated that he was surprised by the convict attacking him while he was exiting a branch of a bank and snatched an envelope from his hand.

The latter was reportedly at the bank to withdraw Dhs500,000 from the company’s account that he works for.

He put Dhs420,000 in a handbag, the rest Dhs80,000 in an envelope and carried it in his hand, as the bag was full.

A cop at the Dubai Police testified that he had arrested the convict following a robbery report from the victim.

The latter recognised the convict at the police station and consequently he had been referred to the judicial authorities for further legal action.

A recent report said the Dubai Criminal Court looked into the case of an Asian gang of 9 people who seized 566 wraps of copper wire worth Dhs118,000 from a contracting company warehouse.

Details of the incident date back to December 2019, when a policeman stated that he had interrogated a number of suspects, who confessed to the theft, conniving with other suspects.

The policeman added the suspects confessed to keeping a watch on the warehouse located in the Al Quoz area closely.

Later, they headed to the place at night in two vehicles.

After they arrived at the warehouse site, they broke the warehouse door lock and raided it.

The court ordered jail for the suspects.
