The Municipality of Sharjah has announced that it permits hairdressing salons and beauty centers to expand their services provides to its customers, while updating the list of preventive measures and precautionary measures enlisted by the municipality.

The municipality has circulated these updated measures to all salons and beauty centers in both Arabic and English.

Municipality inspectors have clarified these measures and explained them to the workers in the facilities and warn them of the need to adhere to the rules.

Sheikha Shaza Al-Mualla, Assistant Director General of the Public Health Sector and Central Laboratories confirmed that the municipality is keen to provide its services in accordance with the best standards and in a manner that preserves the health and safety of the public, which is a top priority.

A number of preventive and precautionary measures to ensure the safe delivery of the services, and continued to follow up on these facilities through inspection visits.

Sheikha Shaza added that in light of the gradual return to work and the reopening of the economic and tourism sectors in the emirate.

Dr. Amal Al Shamsi, Director of Public Health Department in Sharjah Municipality, stated that the updated list of salons and beauty centers included allowing them to provide many services such as shaving, trimming the beard and other services, except for spa and massage services, Moroccan and Oriental bath.

The facilities must commitment to 50% capacity rule.

The worker must measure the temperatures of workers periodically during the day, and also for customers before their entry.

The facilities have been told not to receive customers who show symptoms of cold and influenza.

The facilities are also allowed to provide services for children under the age of 12.

Al Shamsi noted that the inspection teams are intensifying their field visits to ensure that salons adhere to the preventive measures, that included receiving customers by booking, the waiting area has been scrapped, and taking into account the social distancing of at least two meters between each customer.

The workers must wear gloves, and sanitise hands before and after each service, and also obliging customers to wear the masks while allowing them to be removed for a short time while providing services.

The salons must use disinfecting and sterile materials for hands constantly and sufficiently at the disposal of workers and customers.

The facilities have been informed that no services are provided to those who are over 60 years.
