Relations between the UAE and Rwanda are on a very sound footing. From time to time efforts are being made by this country to improve the economic potential of the African nation. Recently, following the inauguration of the Kigali Logistics Platform last October, DP World expanded the portfolio of Rwanda's imports and exports for fresh produce and various perishable goods through the opening of the country's first full-fledged cold storage.
The Kigali Logistics Platform serves as a key gateway to the heart of Africa through several road links, connecting Rwanda to neighbouring landlocked countries, including the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, and Uganda. The platform also enjoys connectivity with the Port of Mombasa in Kenya and Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania, securing two key trade gateways to the sea.
Rwanda is also a rich treasure trove of natural beauty and resources. None other than Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of the UAE, explored the spectacular landscape of Africa, in particular Rwanda, touring the country by air and land and soaking in its pristine beauty.
Nothing can delight a visitor more than the touristy wealth of a country. Sheikh Mohammed’s keenness to get a first-hand feel of its potential is highly appreciable and commendable, as the video clip posted by Khalifa Suleiman shows.
Last month, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently participated in the Africa Tech Summit 2020 in Kigali, Rwanda, where the organisation launched the second cycle of its GBF Mentorship Programme, which pairs innovative UAE and African start-ups with mentors who can provide them with valuable expertise, support and guidance.
More than 250 participants visited the Dubai Chamber’s stand at the summit, where they learned about the criteria for participating in the programme and the various benefits and opportunities it offers to start-ups and mentors, while African start-ups and mentors submitted their applications for the second cycle of the programme.
The event, organised by the UAE Space Agency, is the largest gathering of global space industry leaders in the Middle East and North Africa.
Mohammed also praised New Zealand’s communities for their solidarity with their Muslim neighbours against the hate crime.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Monday instructed the people concerned to start assessing the services of 600 government service centres, stressing that the UAE leadership will be satisfied only with the world’s top place in services and all facilities.
