Sheikh Mohammed visits Big 5 exhibition

Sheikh Mohammed was briefed about some of the latest technologies and techniques used in the construction industry.

Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum today visited The Big 5 exhibition, the region’s largest construction exhibition, taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Sheikh Mohammed toured various pavilions and viewed some of the products exhibited at the event which is hosting 2,200 exhibitors from 135 countries.

He was briefed about some of the latest technologies and techniques used in the construction industry.

Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied by Minister of Economy Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Director-General of the Dubai Ruler’s Court Mohammed Al Shaibani, Director- General of the Department of Protocol and Hospitality in Dubai Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, along with senior officials

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, received Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, President of Zambia, at the Zabeel Palace today, where they discussed UAE-Zambia relations and ways to expand them by including new sectors such as agriculture, minerals, water and infrastructure.

President Lungu and his delegation were greeted by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid; H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed welcomed establishing new bridges of cooperation and the prospect of joint investments in light of the desire of the leadership of the two countries to build an economic partnership centred on feasible investment that will bring mutual benefits to both countries and peoples.

Dr. Edgar Lungu expressed his happiness at visiting the UAE and learning about the country’s progress and achievements, especially in terms of infrastructure, economic prosperity and its shift to Artificial Intelligence in most vital sectors. The Zambian President said his government welcomes the UAE’s investments in Zambia’s public and private sectors and highlighted the African nation’s natural wealth and strategic business positioning in the continent.

The meeting was attended by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group; Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy; Dr. Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Khalifa Abdul Rahman Al Marzouqi, UAE Non-Resident Ambassador to Zambia, and the visiting delegation.

674 prisoners released

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai has ordered the release of 674 prisoners of Dubai’s punitive and correctional institutions on the occasion of the UAE’s 48th National Day.

Dubai Attorney General Issam Al Humaidan said that Sheikh Mohammed’s decision to pardon prisoners from Dubai’s correctional facilities on Islamic and national occasions reflects his keenness to offer the pardoned inmates a chance to reintegrate into society.

Al Humaidan said the Dubai Public Prosecution has started coordinating with Dubai Police to implement the order.

Recently, Sheikh Mohammed  honoured the 14 winners of the UAE Pioneers, including individuals, groups, and initiatives, who contributed in promoting tolerance in the UAE.

Now in its sixth edition, this year’s UAE Pioneers Award coincides with the Year of Tolerance, as the year 2019 was announced as the year of tolerance by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The felicitation ceremony for the awardees was held on Tuesday at the end of the Annual Meetings of the UAE Government 2019.

Sheikh Mohammed said that tolerance is the greatest value that God granted to human, praising the exceptional models of UAE nationals and those living on its homeland, in tolerance and upholding human values. “Today we honour outstanding models that embody the values of tolerance and the values of Zayed and its approach, and work to promote them in the UAE society, so that they become a way of life for all who live on the land of the UAE ... Tolerance is the noblest human traits, without which the world will suffer, conflicts increase and nations and civilisations decline,” Sheikh Mohammed said. “We are collectively responsible for spreading and promoting the values of tolerance, and participating in the consolidation of models and experiences that embody these values.”
