The UAE Ministry of Tolerance has started making the world's largest natural flower carpet with 5,000 volunteers from 150 nationalities at the Dubai Festival City.

The event is a Guinness World Record initiative and will continue on 22, 23 and 24 November 2019.

Tolerance is embedded in the DNA of UAE’s culture. It is in line with the vision of the Founding Father late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

The aim of the three-day ‘Flowers of Tolerance’ festival is to commemorate and give global awareness to the virtue of tolerance in the UAE. For the first time in the history the world will witness more than 150 nationalities laying out the world’s largest fresh flower carpet. The design theme will be highlighting the UAE as a global hub for tolerance.

A vision of Sheikh Zayed was to transform the desert into a green heaven. The flowers used for the event was will be collected, processed into seeds, and arranged to be distributed to educational institutes, corporate partners, and communities across the seven Emirates. The distribution of seeds is a means to educate and develop a sense of sustainability among the nation’s youth.

According to officials, the flower carpet will deliver a message of the UAE’s heritage. The carpet was to display the most important landmarks of the country, such as the Sheikh Zayed Mosque and Burj Khalifa.

The size of the carpet is expected to be around 100,000 square feet. It was all set to be ready within one hour.  Around 5000 volunteers registered from different regions of the world to take the noble initiative.

The flower carpet will be kept for public display for 3 days. The three days family fun multi – cultural entertainments will be performed on venue with dances and performances from different nationalities.

The inaugural event was graced by the presence of dignitaries including VVIPs, VIPs, ambassadors, celebrities, and community leaders.

The highlight of the inauguration was when the 48 dignitaries, representing 48 years of UAE’s peace, prosperity, and happiness through tolerance, released 48 white doves.

The world’s largest fresh flower carpet will be on display for three days for media coverage and public. During the three days, on the main stage, there will be family friendly performances by national and international entertainment worthy of national, regional, and international media coverage.
