Two Asian drivers connived with two fugitives to steal five statues tied to chains in front of a company’s warehouse.

The five statues stolen were; a horse, an elephant, a lion, a nymph and a fountain. They reportedly sold the statues at an exhibition.

According to the accountant of the company, he discovered five statues missing when he reported at the company’s warehouse.

He could not get through to the owner of the company so, he reported the incident to the police.

The police examined the surveillance cameras and found four people carried one of the statues, but the pictures were not clear.

A Dubai police sergeant testified finding two of the stolen statues at a furniture company, after searching various warehouses and private companies that sell furniture and statues.

The owner of the furniture company said he bought the statues for Dhs5,000 from someone, and provided the police with his full data, saying that he worked in the trade of statues.

The police went to the suspect's place and questioned him.

He said he bought the statues from someone selling old items for Dhs2,500 and sold them to another for Dhs5,000.

He provided the police with information about that person who turned out to be one of the culprits.

After being arrested, he confessed he sold all the statues to a person in a neighbouring emirate.
