Man stabbed to death for a car

DUBAI: Dubai Public Prosecution have referred a 37 year-old unemployed Arab man to the court for stabbing a man to death during a fight.

The incident took place last August when a report was filed, stating that a brawl has happened in Al Mizhar 1 Area among a group of young men, causing the death of one of them.

An arresting officer stated that when authorities arrived to the scene, the victim was found unconscious and covered in blood due to his fatal wounds.

However, one of the witnesses revealed that the victim and the accused had an old, ongoing dispute regarding a car that belongs to the victim’s brother. The accused have hid the car, while the victim told his brother about its place. An argument instantly ignited between the two, causing the accused impulsively stab the victim.

A second witness stated that the accused was accompanied by a friend, who tried to end the dispute and help the victim, but was not successful. afterwhich, the two immediately fled the scene.

The accused’s friend revealed that the accused headed to a petrol station to clean the murder weapon and hide it under the driver’s seat of the car, but footage from security cameras show that the car never entered the petrol station.

A drug injection was found in the custody of the accused’s friend, and another witness in the case revealed that the accused and his friend were behaving abnormally.

Moreover, an additional witness stated that she heard the loud argument between the two, and witnessed the stabbing of the victim and his friend’s attempt to prevent it.

The accused denied the possession a weapon, and said that he took the weapon from the victim’s hand and initiated the stabbing only to defend himself.
